Anglers report excellent brook and rainbow trout fishing in the lower and upper lakes and improved fishing in the channel. July is prime damselfly season at Hosmer; anglers should check water temperatures and move to the upper lake if surface water exceeds 70°F.

Hosmer Lake is suffering from very high water temperatures throughout most of the lake, with only a small section near the upper lake outflow having safe temps. Fish are stacked in this refuge area but fishing was tough, and the lake is heavily choked with floating weed and algae mats.
Fly Fishers Place
Upper Hosmer fished well with fish preferring a stripped fly on a slow sinking line over indicator techniques. Callibaetis hatches are on but inconsistent, expected to improve with cooler weather.

Fishing has continued to be good on the upper lake, though the 'plastic hatch' (crowds) has been bad. Fish are cruising the smaller channel through the middle of the lake and are willing to eat stripped bugs.
