Water has warmed significantly but remains cool enough in the upper lake. Damsel adults are popping off with vicious rises, and sub-surface patterns including chironomids and leeches are also producing well.

Anglers report excellent brook and rainbow trout fishing in the lower and upper lakes with improved fishing in the channel. July is prime damselfly season at Hosmer Lake.

The upper lake is in good shape temperature-wise with plenty of fish rising to various food sources throughout the day. The lower lake and most of the channel are too warm and should be avoided.

Low water has created a large weed island in the lower lake due to leaks in the earthen dam; ODFW has been contacted about repairs. No firsthand report available but the upper lake is expected to be cool with typical stillwater hatches.

Hosmer Lake's upper lake is holding water temps in the safe zone for now, with lots of damsels active and callibaetis present though not at peak. Traveling sedge hatches and black caddis in the evenings provide additional opportunities.

A fairly quiet fishing week due to high numbers of non-fishing floaters seemingly scaring fish. Callibaetis and damsels remain the most prolific bugs.

The lower lake and channel are warming and should be avoided during warm parts of the day; the upper channel and upper lake remain fishable with cold spring water. Callibaetis hatches have been good and damsels are abundant.
