Fall River Fishing Report

Fall River is fishing well and with rainy days expected this week, a dry fly bonanza is predicted with PMDs, BWOs, and possibly Mahogany Duns. Midges, olive stones, ants, beetles, and heavy nymphs are also recommended.

Fall River is fishing consistently in late August thanks to cold spring-fed water keeping conditions stable throughout the system. Subsurface patterns are the most reliable producers, while terrestrials and small dries are also effective for fish looking up.

Fall River can fish well but timing and location are key — dawn or after 4 PM are best to avoid high midday water temps and pressure near the hatchery. Good hatches of PMDs, BWOs, olive and black caddis, midges, ants, beetles, hoppers, and rusty spinners at dusk are present.

Cold spring-fed water is keeping conditions consistent throughout the system during late-August heat. Fish are holding around weed edges, submerged wood, undercut banks, and deeper slots, with subsurface fishing being the most consistent approach.

Fall River continues to fish quite well on both sub-surface and dry fly. The stretch between the Campground and Headwaters has been producing the best with less pressure than the hatchery area.

Fall River fishing remains good with a fun mix of techniques producing fish. Early morning and after 4 PM are the best times to avoid crowds, particularly near the hatchery area which sees heavy pressure mid-day.
