Spring Chinook continue to be caught in the Willamette below St Johns Bridge, with catch increasing around Kelley Point Park. Hot weather is expected to impact trout stockings in valley ponds.

Limited catch reported in the Gorge and Troutdale areas, with one Chinook released per creel check. Shad fishing was also occurring in the area near Bonneville Dam to Tongue Point.

Carp are looking up, suggesting surface or sight-fishing opportunities for carp are present.

Statewide low water and warm temperatures are compressing trout into oxygenated riffles and shaded holding lies earlier than usual. Active summer hatches of PMDs, stoneflies, and caddis continue to offer fishing opportunities especially during cooler parts of the day.

Valley tributaries and smaller streams are recommended over mainstem rivers due to low, warm water conditions. Fish are being pushed into riffles and pool heads as dissolved oxygen drops in warmer stretches.

Steelhead fishing is fair downstream of Rainier. Shad fishing is good for bank anglers at Bonneville Dam, and walleye fishing is good in The Dalles and John Day pools.
