McKenzie River

The McKenzie is fishing well in the morning but slows in the afternoon. A chubby with a leech or nymph dropper has been the go-to setup and is catching fish.

The upper McKenzie is recommended as a fishing alternative for those coming up from the valley during the fire situation.

Lots of summer steelhead and spring Chinook are still passing Leaburg Dam, with June and July being peak months. The river will be stocked with 3,000 hatchery rainbow trout on July 20 and August 10.
