Fly Fishers Place
The McKenzie is fishing very well with guide boats running at 1700–1900 cfs — low but navigable. Dry-dropper rigs with Chubbys and Perdigons are productive, as are leeches with nymph droppers and stonefly nymphs, with golden stones being the top nymph choice.

Stocked for the last time this season with 2,000 hatchery rainbow trout. Open to retention of adipose fin-clipped salmon and steelhead; all non-clipped trout must be released.

Guides reported super positive results using Chubbys and the Croston's Drop Back Callibaetis nymph, with leeches, perdigons, and slum lords also working well. Trout Spey anglers swinging sculpins and soft hackles, as well as nymphing with golden stones and possie buggers, have also been productive.

The lower McKenzie River will be stocked with 2,000 hatchery rainbow trout the week of August 31. Summer steelhead fishing remains open year-round and retention of adipose fin-clipped salmon and steelhead is allowed.
